Bibs and Booties

In preparation for parenthood I have started sewing clothes / accessories so that the baby can look fly all the time, as will it's friends due imminently or who have arrived early (see below post). The red bib is from some fabric a good friend bought back from Japan for me which is perfect for kids stuff. These two sets are cotton backed with wynciette (brushed cotton), summer booties can be lined with lightweight cotton.
They are relatively quick and satisfying things to make and don't take much fabric, so do let me know if you are interested in a commission. I have a few different designs to try for as it gets older and a wide range of fabrics to try too.

Booties and jackets

I will soon be introduced to some cool twins with a Malaysian dad, and both parents who are very fond of bright colours. I have found the perfect purpose for the traditional fabrics my dad bought me back from Malaysia.
The Malaysian prints often come with two distinct colour ways on each print, so the linings are made of the complimentary softer colours here.

I have a few different shapes for booties to test out but please let me know if you would like a pair commissioned - they are relatively stress-free to make and could be done in most fabrics.

Other than these I made a dog jacket for a friends' puppy last year which she has finally grown into. She is a beautiful, as you can see.  Fleece lined with floral lining, if I remember rightly - so easily washable.

Lottie and Mike's Blanket

Made as a wedding present for my oldest friend and her husband to keep warm over the winter. Including newly acquired vintage embroidered and appliqué tablecloths, which add a sense of time and tradition to this as a wedding gift. To keep it personal to them there are squares from a t-shirt that Lottie had bought for Mike when they first met.

Backed with dusty blue lightweight woven cotton bedspread (machine washable).

Emily's Blanket

Commissioned for a friend from school's forthcoming baby, this quilt features some old royal commemorative tablecloths (not sure which event they were from - approx 1940's), one of the last remaining bits of my William Morris fabric, some new (?Cath Kidstone) cowboy-themed fabric and of course lots of liberty print and plain brightly coloured silk remnants thanks to Ayten Gassen Lingerie. Looking forward to seeing the baby it is for!

Amelia and Sophia's blankets

One of my favourite people recently had twins. They are gorgeous. No surprise there.
Both girls have a similar blanket in very slightly different colour-ways, pink-heavy by request.

Alternate patches in silk to fit in with the more traditional colour-scheme. For the first time I have used a patterned backing with a sweet koala bear face on it, I think this will fit in well to their beautiful nursery that Emma and Nick have made ready for them now they are finally back home!

James + Charlotte's Blanket

A commission for some friends who have just moved in together. Backed with dark grey wool, another heavy blanket, with bright patterns from around the world.
They once made a devisive green tea panna cotta, which is honoured with some pieces of jade cotton with gold detail that my Aunt brought back from a trip to China about 25 years ago. Glad it has found a good home with Goat and Charlotte. The cactus is one of my favourite new additions to my fabric mountain.
